Exploring Life in Heaven
What will our bodies be like in
heaven?
Our bodies can give us such
troubles, can’t they? Sickness, disease, weight issues.
It can be very difficult now!
Although we are fearfully and
wonderfully made, we long for something better…
For while we are in this tent, we
groan and are burdened the Word tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:4.
Many of us groan inwardly with the
difficulties and pains of this mortal life. Especially when we get
to a certain age. All kinds of problems begin to happen.
The good news is that these aches
and pains are only temporary! There is something better!
1 Corinthians 15:40 tells us there
are heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies. On earth we have
earthly bodies made for our lives on earth. When we go to heaven,
we leave our earthly body and take on our heavenly body. Those
bodies will be made for our lives in heaven.
That means that we have the
guarantee that one day, our bodies will be…!!!
...weightless,
painless, instantly responsive, comfortable, and totally peaceful.
We will be able to dash around
valleys and run up to the highest mountain top without getting out
of breath!
When we go to heaven, our bodies
will instantly change from perishable to imperishable.
We will die in weakness and be
raised in power.
That means there will be…
No cripples
No diseases
No insane asylums
No scars
No disfigurements
No pain
In heaven there are…
No more glasses
No contacts
No arch supports
No hearing aids
No Depends
No dandruff
No nose hair
No body odor
No bad breath!
We’ll have straight teeth, a
straight back and unlimited energy! There will be no restrictions!
Oh it will be wonderful! Think of
it! We will finally be happy with our bodies!
Many of us will surely be happy
about that!
We will have a physical body. It
will be made of different material though.
When Jesus appeared to the disciples
after His resurrection, His body looked as it did on earth. He had
hands, fingers, and toes.
He said to the disciples in Luke 24,
“Look at my hands and feet! It is I myself! Touch me and see.”
He looked the same, but His body was
made of different material – He was able to appear and disappear and
walk through walls.
1 Corinthians 15:49 says that, just
as we bear the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the
likeness of the man from heaven.
We will have the type of body that
Jesus had after His resurrection! That means we will be able to
appear from here to there and walk through walls too!
When Jesus was raised from the dead
there was a new type of man that came forth.
Jesus’ resurrected physical body was
flesh and bone. He told His disciples when He appeared to them after
His resurrection and said, ‘I am not just a spirit. I am also a
physical body.’
This is the type of body we will
have!
It is similar to our earthly bodies
in form, with some major differences. For example, in heaven our
internal organs will be different. There is still food in heaven but
the food is not for survival. It’s for pleasure and for impartation.
You don’t have to eat in heaven to live. You live by God’s life.
The body that we will have in heaven
is a body that can float around. We won’t need wings to fly. When
going up the mountain you have a choice of walking up or floating
up!
In heaven there are lake and rivers.
You can choose either to walk on the top of the river or you could
go swimming in the river.
In heaven every fruit tree is
constantly producing fruit. Every flowering plant is always
flowering because of God’s presence; there is immortal life in
heaven.
We will have this immortal life
flowing through our bodies in heaven. The amazing thing that most
don’t know that that immortal life can flow into our bodies right
now! We don’t have to wait until heaven to have a better body!
And that’s where we’ll continue next
week! Join us again! |
