What questions do you have when you think about life in heaven?
These are some of the questions I started asking when my dad died
suddenly:
-
Where is my dad now?
-
What happens to people when they die?
-
Do all people go to heaven?
-
How does a person get to heaven?
-
Is eternity a zombie like experience? I went on a search, determined to find the answer to these questions.
One day, the door to eternity was opened to me and the answers to these
questions became clear. Knowing the answers to these questions changed
my life!
I
found that many people think about this, too. Although no one wants to
die, the thought of living forever scares many people.
-
They think that if life
will be as it is now, they don’t want it to go on forever.
-
They can handle thinking
about living for 100 years or so and then dying, but living forever seems
too long.
-
“It will get boring.
It is too difficult. We will eventually get tired of being around
the same people.”
-
It is hard to think of
doing something forever because all things that we are familiar with now
have a beginning, and they have an end. We wonder how can we do
something forever and enjoy it.
Bible-believing
Christians don’t have much more comfort at the thought of living forever
either.
They say that they are
looking forward to heaven, but they aren’t sure what there is to look
forward to.

What will we be doing
once we get there?
-
Will we work, sleep,
laugh, and play?
-
Will we need to rest?
-
Will there be marriage?
-
Will we work?
-
How much singing we will
be doing with the angels?
-
Will be we ourselves when
we get there?
-
Will we recognize
ourselves?
-
Will we recognize anyone
else?
-
Will others recognize us?
-
Will it be like going to
an alien planet where we will not recognize life there?
-
We know our bodies won’t
be the same. Where will we sit, or will we sit – will we just float?
-
Will we have our souls
and our spirits?
-
What can we do now to
prepare ourselves?
What is heaven like?
What exactly are we aiming towards? Are we aiming at all? We
don’t take much time to figure this out either. For various reasons,
we don’t research this topic much:
-
We feel it is a confusing
topic and no one really knows.
-
To go too far into depth
about heaven seems to be taboo. We feel we should not really talk
about it.
-
We just acknowledge that
we will get there and it will be great and we’ll just wait until we get
there to find out about it.
Do you ever think about
what will it be like to live forever?
We know so little
about heaven, but we believe we will be spending forever there.
It is like going on a mystery bus tour where you don’t know where you are
going until you get there. It is a frightening place when you think
about it. A strange place. It almost seems like we will be
leaving the comforts of home when we go there.
Let’s take away some of the
mystery about this place. Let’s find out about our forever home and
what we can do to prepare for it. Let’s get a good look at what it
will be like, based on what the Bible says.
